It takes more than bricks and mortar to establish vibrant healthy communities; it also requires a range of services delivered by community groups and associations which are at the heart of every community. But while the work done by these groups, and the contributions they make to local communities is invaluable, it sometimes goes unrecognised.
Having settled on their block of land in the Lollipop Hill precinct of Manor Lakes in January 2021, Osman, and his wife Marufa cannot wait to start building their first home and become part of the community at Manor Lakes.
“We have many family and friends living at Manor Lakes, and the community aspect was very important in our decision to buy,” explains Marufa.
Bhaumik and Nisha Shah and daughter Aahana love the connection to nature that comes from establishing a lush, productive garden, which is why they felt Manor Lakes’ Lakeside precinct would be the perfect location to build their dream home.
“Gardening helps you to forget all of your pressure and stresses. The colours of the plants are soothing, and growing trees and plants attracts birds, butterflies and other wildlife. It makes you feel part of nature,” Bhaumik shares.

A pandemic was not going to get in the way of Shahid Akram and his wife, Sadia, purchasing their first home. Neither was being unable to view the land they planned to purchase due to travel restrictions.
“I had already signed my contract by the time I first visited the western suburbs and set foot in Manor Lakes!” laughs Shahid, who purchased land in Manor Lakes to build his first home during Melbourne’s 2020 coronavirus lockdown.
With many friends living in and around Manor Lakes, Venkat Kalwa and his wife Raga knew immediately that Manor Lakes was home for them.
“We didn’t even look anywhere else,” confirms Venkat, “We were surprised at how comfortable and perfect it was. We knew straight away Manor Lakes was home for us, so we went ahead and purchased a block!”
Wyndham residents are being invited to enter an amateur photo competition which aims to showcase how locals came together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Non-profit group, Bridge Builders for Australasia (BBFA), is running the Wyndham 2020 & Beyond, You, Me, Stronger Together competition.
The competition is supported by the Manor Lakes Community Fund, an initiative of the Dennis Family Corporation.
