Trevor Weston, Captain / Officer In Charge, Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade

With a strong commitment to safety and service, Trevor and his team look out for the Wyndham Vale community.

In 2024, the Brigade was a recipient of the Manor Lakes Community Fund.

What do you do for the community?
The Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade is a 100% volunteer fire service that provides fire and rescue emergency response to Wyndham Vale and surrounding suburbs.

We also deliver community education around fire safety, along with various other services to support the local community.

How have you been personally involved?
I was one of the founding members of the Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade and have served as Captain and Officer In Charge for the past 13 years. In total, I’ve been with the CFA for over 25 years, first starting with the Werribee Fire Brigade.

What changes has your group achieved in the community?
We’ve grown our Brigade in both size and capability to meet the changing risk and demands of our rapidly evolving community.

We successfully lobbied for upgraded appliances and have recently begun construction of a new, purpose-built fire station in Manor Lakes.

What’s planned for 2025 and 2026?
We’re preparing to move into our new fire station which is currently being built on Armstrong Road and scheduled  for completion in November 2025, which will coincide with the busy Summer Fire Season.

We’ve also launched a recruitment program to bring in new members, which includes comprehensive training and education.

Any highlights from 2025 so far?
Starting construction of our new fire station after funding being announced for its construction about eight years ago.

Also, we’ve responded to a record number of calls this financial year—around 560.

How was the 2024 Community Fund grant used?
We used the grant to purchase small cordless tools and portable lighting systems for our appliances - gear that significantly enhances our firefighting capabilities.

We train every Tuesday evening and most Sunday mornings.

Community members are always welcome to visit and see what we do.
