Just under an hour from Manor Lakes, you can easily fill a day or a weekend in the Macedon Ranges. 

Whether you’re after beautiful gardens or the great outdoors or mouth-watering produce and delicious wine – you’re bound to find your happy space in the Macedon Ranges. Here are our top things to see and do!

The Great Outdoors. The Macedon Ranges are a paradise for anyone who loves the great outdoors! Go for a bushwalk to the summit of the iconic Hanging Rock and bask in stunning views. Grab your bike and challenge yourself to a backcountry gravel ride or take a tranquil stroll in Macedon’s botanic gardens.

Cellar doors near Macedon. The Macedon Ranges are dotted with boutique wineries and cellar doors. If you’re staying over a weekend, drop by Mount Towrong Vineyard, known for its rustic Italian fare or Mount Macedon Winery, where the restaurant serves up a menu focusing on seasonal local produce. If you’re planning a during the week, Hanging Rock Winery is a short drive from Macedon (open daily from 10-5pm).

Markets and farm gates. Drop into one of the many weekend farmers markets or explore artisan markets including the Gisborne Old Time Market and Hanging Rock Craft Market. Visitors can pick up fresh produce from farm gates selling everything from eggs and honey to cherries and fresh flowers.

Hanging Rock and Macedon Regional Park are top picnic spots. However, the region also boasts a number of picturesque botanic gardens and children’s parks.

Where to eat and drink? When you’re ready to refuel, Mr is a popular cafe in the heart of Macedon perfect for breakfast and lunch. For a local country pub experience head to the Macedon Railway Hotel or drive a short distance up Mount Macedon to the Mount Macedon Trading Post café.
