Do you qualify for FREE home internet

Get back-to-school ready with the School Student Broadband Initiative.

There’s no doubt that children who can access online learning at home as part of their education are more likely to engage in classroom activities. And now, thanks to the School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI), they can.

Led by the National Broadband Network (NBN), SSBI is a Federal Government initiative offering free home internet to 30,000 unconnected households with school-aged students.

With broadband internet access your family will be able to access fast internet at home, supporting your kids to build their digital skills, learn how to safely use the internet and participate in a world that is increasingly dependent on digital technology.

The SSBI offers eligible students free internet at home until the end of 2025 – and there’s still plenty of time to sign up!

Families/carers can apply to receive a free service anytime up until 31 December 2024.

If you sign up now, that means free internet until 31 December 2025.

For families who have already connected with SSBI, their free internet will automatically be rolled over until 31 December 2025.

To be eligible you need to…

Have a child enrolled in an Australian school;

Not have an active NBN internet service at home* (excludes mobile internet services); and

Live in an area where NBN can be accessed through a standard connection (NBN will confirm this).

So, why not check your eligibility for free NBN broadband until the end of 2025 now.
